I like the hairstyle that has the end bits flicked out, don't know how else to describe it, would a curling wand or a hair straightener be the best to do this?

What you do is buy a straightener.
It works the best, I've found.
Then as you're straightening your hair and you near the end, gradually twist the straightener away from your face, but still pull it down. Then you'll get that flippy thing going on.

Get a straightener that is about an inch has rounded edges. They work great!!

Curling iron would be better. Instead of curling your hair under, just use the iron the other way and flip them out.
You will get more of a flip from the curling iron than the straightner.
