What do hair straighteners tend to use as the heating element. Are they inductive?

Inductive is a term giving to a component that produces electromagnetic waves to suit a particular purpose, hair straighner filaments are usually no more then a carbon film layed against a metal plate or a simple coil of thick wire deisgned to do nothing more then create heat.
