the ceramic hair irons are the best. But how curly is your hair? If it's not that curly or wavy, you can get by with a hair iron cheaper than 40 bucks from WalMart or Target (i.e. Revlon makes them). The reason why I say that is because the ceramic hair irons that are inexpensive DO NOT get very hot, and thus doesn't straighten as well as the ones over 40 bucks you buy from a professional salon. So if you don't have very curly or wavy hair, go for it. If you do, you are much better off shelling out over 40 bucks for the sake of your own sanity (i.e. getting frustrated in the morning!)

well, there are a lot of straighteners you can find. but if you want a cheap straightener, try a store like wal-mart. Revlon has nice, cheap straighteners. i, personally use an expensive one called maxi glide hair straightener, but its about $140. hope i helped =)
