If you're looking for a cheaper but very good brand, Conair has a line of ceramic hair straighteners I reccommend... depending on what kind of hair you have, it will work as well as $100 ones for about $25 - $30 instead.

CHI - its the best. i got mine for about $100 from my hair stylist..im sure if you talk to your hair stylist she could order one for you from where ever she gets her supplies from...i know $100 its kind of expensive but they're well worth it.

I love my straightener! It's by FHI. I bought it at a solon. They're around 100 bucks...but it's got a warranty and it's so good that you wont regret spending all that money!

I didn't think the conair worked nearly as well as the one my friend purchased at a salon. Probably depends on how coarse your hair is.

at Ulta, I got a "MAXIUS" ionic brand straightener, and it works great. Has 10 heat settings, and I use mine on 5 (the middle setting).

It has a "water well" that shoots moisture onto your hair as it straightens, so it doesnt dry out and damage so badly. also, it has removable plates on one side, one plate has teeth/prongs like a comb. (gets all the hair to straighten in line and doesnt leave knotted/crooked hair bunched up in places)

the other plate is flat, and it is for touch ups the next day.

I think the iron cost around $70...but it is truly great. I wouldnt live without it.
