Hair straightener made hair more curly?

I use a chemical hair straightener and all the other times it works pretty good but it won't unless i let it air dry. I don't shampoo it much i normally use conditioner and a small amount of shampoo or itll get REALLY puffy. I just straightened it again yesterday and it still get poofy nomatter what and is curlier than it was before. Is there anything I can do to get it less puffy?

GO TO REGIS HAIRSTYLIST AND BUY A STRAIGHTEN BALM THAT IS THE NAME OF IT, AWESOME PRODUCT, I USE TO WORK THERE FOR A LONG TIME AND USED IT ON A LOT OF CLIENTS WITH CURLY HAIR, VERY GOOD STUFF. NOT EXPENSIVE EITHER
